PERL Media competition winners 2014

Marie Cristhel Axalan from the Philippines won first place in the photograph competition. Jessica Anne Portillo from the Philippines won first place in the magazine/press article competition and Elaine Nasi from the Philippines won first place in the video competition.

The competition’s theme was:

New ways of living responsibly! What can we do differently?

Based on PERL’s previous successes with the media competition, another was held in 2014. The competitions theme was: New ways of living responsibly! What can we do differently? 

The winners of the 2014 PERL media competition were announced at PERL’s International Conference: A Decade of Responsible Living: Preparing, Engaging, Responding and Learning on March 10-11 2015 at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. The winning video and photograph were shown to over 120 PERL partners and conference participants. 

After receiving a total of 196 entries the following winners were chosen:

The winners of the magazine/press article are:

1st prize is awarded to Jessica Anne Portillo from Miriam College in Manila, Philippines with her article: “An Open Letter to My Generation”.

2nd prize is awarded to Natalie Bolichowski, Cora Harte and Jared Allen from Brescia University College in Ontario, Canada with their article: “Sharing Resources with an Eco-Friendly Cost

3rd prize is awarded to Samantha Jordan from Miriam College in Manila, Philippines with her article: “How to Change the World”.

 

The winners of the photo competition are:

1st prize is awarded to Marie Cristhel Axalan from Miriam College in Manila, Philippines with her photograph: “Look Up”.

2nd prize is awarded to Gurpreet Rehalana and Tahireh Mohebati from Brescia University College in Ontario, Canada with their photograph: “Reconnecting to the Planet with Gardening”.

3rd prize is awarded to Molly Schoo, Bianca LaPenne and Marissa Lustri from Brescia University College in Ontario, Canada with their photograph: “Creating a Healthier and More Sustainable Generation, One Bite at a Time”.

 

The winners of the student video competition are:

1st prize is awarded to Elaine Nasi from Miriam College in Manila, Philippines with her video: “A Change from Single Paper”.

2nd prize is awarded to Daniela Debono, Emma Caruana and Matthea Debono from University of Malta, Malta with their video: “Max and the Three Pillars (Environmental, Economic and Social Aspects of Responsible Living)”. 

3rd prize is awarded to a group entry lead by Natalie Reilly from Ursline Secondary School in Sligo, Ireland with their video: “The Environment is not a Game”.
