In the 21st century improving population health and narrowing social inequalities in health have become major concerns of governments.
Public health, concerned as it is with the protection and promotion of health and the prevention of illness and disease through the organized efforts of society, has thus become of increasing interest and importance to a range of actors in a diversity of fields.
This multidisciplinary Master’s programme is designed to meet the needs and aspirations of these constituent groups. It aims to develop critically-informed and dynamic individuals who have a critical understanding of the determinants of health and the opportunities and challenges associated with promoting and protecting public health.
Students are encouraged to apply their comprehensive theoretical knowledge of public health to ‘real world’ policy and practice in a systematic and critically informed manner.
