Biotechnology is about the use of living organisms - plant cells, animal cells and microorganisms - to create new products and services. Biotechnology helps to solve local and global issues in food production, health and the environment. Hedmark University of Applied Sciences performs teaching and research in biotechnology in close cooperation with industry, particularly through the cluster community in Arena Heidner. Our main research activities are:
• Reproduction biotechnology for livestock and fish
• Molecular genetics in breeding and wildlife management
• Bioprocess- and enzyme technology • Commercialization of biotechnology
We provide a one year add-on programme in biotechnology at bachelor level and an international Master's degree in applied and commercial biotechnology. We also train doctoral candidates in collaboration with universities. Our students and PhD students are working on projects that are closely linked to our collaborating companies.
