There are not many connections each day to Rena. You have to do some careful planning, especially during week-ends. A car can be nice to have because it makes you more mobile, and you can explore the nearby mountains and lakes during your spare time.

By plane:

Oslo Airport (OSL) is the nearest airport. There are many direct flights to different destinations in Europe and overseas. Norwegian (www.norwegian.no) and SAS (www.sas.no) are the main air companies. From Oslo Airport, take the train or bus to Rena, or rent a car.

By train:

From Oslo or Oslo Airport, take the train in the direction of Hamar-Lillehammer. Change trains at Hamar and take 'Rørosbanen' to Rena. Oslo Airport - Hamar: 1 hour. Hamar-Rena: 1 hour.

From Trondheim, take Rørosbanen directly to Rena.

You can find timetables, connections and prices on www.nsb.no. The railway station is a 5-minute walk from the campus.

By bus:

From Oslo or Oslo Airport, take 'Østerdalsekspressen' directly to Rena. It takes about 2,5 hours from Oslo Airport. From Trondheim, you can also travel by Østerdalsekspressen. Find the timetable on www.nor-way.no. The bus station is a 5-minute walk from the campus.

By car:

From Oslo and Oslo Airport, follow E6 to the north. Turn on to R3 before you get to Hamar (direction Tynset, Elverum). Pass Elverum. About 35 km north of Elverum you will be in Rena. Approx. 2 hours from Oslo Airport.

From Trondheim, follow E6 to the south and turn on to R3 at Innset. Approx. 5 hours.

 

Students are required to inform us of their travel details, so we can arrange for someone to meet them at the railway station or the bus station, preferable during office hours!
