There are not many connections each day to Evenstad. You have to do some careful planning, especially during week-ends. A car can be nice to have because it makes you more mobile, and you can explore the nearby mountains and lakes during your spare time.
Oslo Airport (OSL) is the nearest airport. There are many direct flights to different destinations in Europe and overseas. Norwegian (www.norwegian.no) and SAS (www.sas.no) are the main air companies. From Oslo Airport, take the train or bus to Evenstad, or rent a car.
From Oslo or Oslo Airport, take the train in the direction of Hamar-Lillehammer. Change trains at Hamar and take 'Rørosbanen' to Evenstad. Oslo Airport - Hamar: 1 hour. Hamar-Evenstad: 1 hour 20 minutes.
From Trondheim, take Rørosbanen directly to Evenstad.
You can find timetables, connections and prices on www.nsb.no. The Airport station is called GARDERMOEN OSLO AIRPORT, and the train leaves from the airport building. Evenstad railway station is a 15-minute walk from the campus.
From Oslo and Oslo Airport, follow E6 to the north. Turn on to R3 before you get to Hamar (direction Tynset, Elverum). Pass Elverum and Rena. About 40 km north of Rena, take the bridge over the Glomma river, and turn left straight after the bridge. Approx. 2.5 hours from Oslo Airport.
From Trondheim, follow E6 to the south and turn on to R3 at Innset. Approx. 4.5 hours.
